Kaplan MD Perfect Pout Lip Mask & Balm Duo | review

I’ve suffered the worst winter lips recently, possibly from my obsession with the incredible – but incredibly drying – liquid lipsticks, but for whatever reason my lips have been dried, cracked and sore. I’d tried lip scrubs and balms but nothing was really cutting the mustard. In a desperate bid I logged onto Cult Beauty and purchased the Kaplan MD Perfect Pout Lip Mask & Lip Balm Duo on a total whim, and without giving it a proper research…

When my package arrived (in just 2-days) I didn’t really know what to expect, so after reading the instructions I opened the little mask pot and used the included spatula to apply a thick layer to my lips and the surrounding skin. I experienced a slight tingling which wasn’t unpleasant and is apparently due to the papaya enzymes as they dissolve any dead skin away. After 3-minutes was up I wiped away any excess but most had sunk into the skin already. My lips already felt and looked so much better, then I finished with a thin layer of the balm.

I’ve now used the mask three times over the past couple of weeks and I am honestly so happy with the results, it’s so much better than I expected it to be and every bit as good as I’d hoped for. It cost me £19, and I can see it lasting a while. A bit of an added extra alongside the major hydrating properties and melting away of dead skin cells is the plumping effect. A rather scientific-sounding ingredient Adipofill’in is included along with hyaluronic acid to plump the lip contour and infuse the lips with intense cellular hydration, and my lips definitely felt fuller and more plump after just one mask application. The balm also has an SPF20 making it perfect for everyday use to nourish and also protect the lips. It’s also got a pleasant scent and slightly sweet, minty taste.
